Managing Director

Mr. Md. Jamilur started as Managing Director of ASA Rwanda in 2016. He has many years of experience in microfinance, especially at ASA Bangladesh, where - since 1991 - he occupied various management positions at the head office including learned the field work. He was a Branch Manager, Regional Manager, District Manager, Divisional Manager and Assistant Director. He also was assigned to manage positions abroad, such as Executive Director at ASA Ghana, Consultant at Bina Swadaya (NGO) in Indonesia, and as Consultant in the Philippines for UNDP Micro-start Support Program and General Manager at SAMIC PLC. in Cambodia. Mr. Jamilur graduated Master of Art in General History from Chittagong University of Bangladesh. He also has a Bachelor degree in General History from the same university. In his current position he is accountable for all day to day operation as well as strengthening the overall activities of the institution.

Operation Manager

Mr. Mostafa serves as the Operational Manager since 2018. He has been working in Rwanda since 2017. He has over 13 years of experience in the microfinance industry. As a principal consultant he has served one year in Grooming Integrated Global services limited, a Nigeria based microfinance institution. Mr. Mostofa obtained his Master’s Degree in Social Science from Chittagong University in 2000.

Head of Internal Audit

Mr. Iyakaremye is the Head of the Internal Audit department. He joined the company in 2019. Prior to joining ASA Rwanda, he worked at AB Bank (Rwanda) Plc as the senior internal auditor for 3 years. He also has internal audit experience as the internal auditor at the Banque Populaire du Rwanda Plc for 5 years. He has also worked in the finance / accounting fields in different companies occupying positions as accountant, cost controller and HR/finance assistant. Currently he is the member of both the Institute of Internal auditors of Rwanda and the Association of tax advisors of Rwanda. Mr. Iyakaremye holds a Masters’ degree of Business Administration specializing in Accounting and Finance from the Mount Kenya University, and he is currently pursuing the advanced level of the CPA (Certified Public Accountants). He has undergone a series of trainings mainly in the credit and operational risk assessment delivered by the school of Frankfurt, Germany, and an intensive advanced credit course organized by Rabobank.

Jean Sauveur

Jean Sauveur

IT Officer

Mr. Sauveur was an IT Associate after which he got promoted to IT officer since 2019. Prior to Joining ASA Rwanda, Mr. Sauveur served as IT officer and coordinator of Sector Services Access point in Huye District with 5 years of working experience in Networking, Cybersecurity and telecommunication. He received his B.Sc. Engineering in Electronics and Communications systems in 2016. Currently, he is playing a key role in establishing the data centre and data recovery site and ensuring the security of ASA Rwanda’ systems. He holds a professional certificate of Cisco such as CCNA, CCNA Security and pursuing CCNP.

Uwimpuhwe Samuel

Senior HR Officer

Mr. Samuel is a Senior Human Resources Officer since 2019. He did Public Administration and Management in Kabale University and has closely worked with the top executive teams of different local and international institutions. In addition to his expertise in people’s management, he also developed the general administration of companies, particularly coordinating various projects involving NGO staff. He works in Human Resources Management from 2012. His expertise includes creating winning teams, legal & compliance, conflict management, HR development, recruitment, finance and administration policies, health and safety, performance appraisals, remuneration etc. He is a researcher and author of “The effect of demotivated workforce to the organizational development”.

Emmanuel Twizeyumukiza

Mr. Twizeyumukiza has over 4 years of professional experience in accounting, tax and finance as well as consultancy services covering various industry sectors. He holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting from Adventist University of Central Africa in 2016 and is also CPA (Rwanda) Finalist. Prior to joining ASA Rwanda in 2019 as accounts officer, he served at PKF Consulting Ltd since 2016 as Assistant Tax Analyst where he has contributed to the development and success of the PKF tax department, after which he left PKF in 2019 as Tax Analyst. He Emmanuel has professional and commercial experience that covers Tax, Accounting, Auditing and financial consultancy services in both private and Non-Governmental Organizations, covering manufacturing, agriculture, trading companies and education institutions among others.

Dirk Brouwer

Dirk Brouwer

Dirk Brouwer co-founded ASA International in 2007 and has since served as the company’s Executive Director. He is also the Managing Director of Catalyst Microfinance Investors, which he co-founded in 2006. With over 20 years of experience in investment banking, and 11 in microfinance, he has held several senior and supervisory positions, having acted as a board member of CMI and Founder and Managing Director of Sequoia which he founded in 2002. Prior to this, he spent 14 years working at Merrill Lynch and PaineWebber.

A.K.M. Aminur Rashid

A.K.M. Aminur Rashid

Aminur Rashid is currently the Executive Director of ASA International. Since joining in 2011, he has held the positions of Chief Coordinating Officer and Director. Prior to this, Aminur was a Director of ASA Bangladesh from 1992, closely associated with the company’s micro-finance program. Before joining ASA, Aminur worked at Grameen Bank, a fully regulated specialized bank for microfinance. With over 28 years of experience in microfinance, he has held multiple senior industry positions, and worked in extremely varied developmental contexts including Tajikistan, India, Mexico, and Nigeria.

Md. Nurul Islam Chowdhury Mafique

He obtained his post-graduate degree in Management from National University of Bangladesh in the 1997. He joined ASA Bangladesh in1994 and since then has been closely associated with the implementation of ASA’s microfinance program and impact assessment team. He was the Managing Director of ASA Afghanistan (previously part of ASA International) between 2009 - 2010. He provided consultancy services to the Centre for Community Transformation in the Philippines and the Cambodia Health Committee, such as, to strengthen the Microfinance Service Delivery System, Human Resources Management System, Monitoring/Supervision and implementation, financial control system, accounting & record keeping system from 2005 to 2006. Mr. Mafique worked with various organizations as a Deputy Managing Director, such as Pag-ASA Philippines (part of ASA International) in 2008 - 2009, ASA Pakistan in 2011 - 2012 and ASA Savings and Loans in 2013-2014. Mr. Mafique is the Managing Director of ASA Uganda since 2014 and is member of the Board of Directors of ASA Kenya.

Mr. Mohammad Mishu Mahmud obtained his Post-Graduate degree in Management from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before joining ASA International, he served ASA Bangladesh as an Assistant Director of Program and Monitoring. He was closely associated with the implementation of ASA’s microfinance program and impact assessment team since 1995. Mr. Mahmud worked as a Consultant for a microcredit support project-UNDP in the Philippines in the year 1999. During 2000 – 2002, he worked at Proshika Bangladesh as a Program Coordinator. He was a Consultant for Lak Jaya Microfinance in Sri Lanka during 2006 – 2008, the Head of Operations for ASA International in India in 2008 - 2009 and worked at Vindhyanchal Finlease Ltd, Lucknow in India between 2010 - 2011. He has also written several articles published in national dailies. Mr. Mohammad Mishu Mahmud is Managing Director of ASA Kenya.

Martin Murenzi

Martin Murenzi

Mr Murenzi is a highly skilled banking professional with 18 years of working experience in banking with specialization in areas of bank supervision at the National Bank of Rwanda (Inspector and Principal Inspector of Banks from1996 to 2011), in risk management (Financial Risk Manager at the National Bank of Rwanda (2011 to 2014), and auditing (freelance consultant in financial and non-financial audit firms) from 2015. Mr Murenzi obtained his Master degree in Economics from University of Tunis, Tunisia in 1993. To enhance his knowledge, he has participated in about more than 15 seminars and workshops in banking supervision and risk management.
